We’re honored to be featured in a recent KIRO 7 News segment by Jesse Jones, highlighting how the Rainier Valley Community Development Fund (RVCDF) continues to support small businesses impacted by major infrastructure projects like the light rail.
The story centers on Comfort Zone, a popular Rainier Valley restaurant run by Talya Miller. Like many small businesses in the area, Comfort Zone faced financial uncertainty due to the disruption caused by light rail construction. With support from RVCDF, through a combination of grants, loans, and technical assistance, Talya was able to keep her doors open and continue serving the community.
Since its inception, the fund has helped more than 300 businesses with over $90 million in assistance. As Executive Director Bob Luciano shared in the interview, “Access to affordable credit is critical to them staying in place in community.” Last year alone, RVCDF provided over $8 million in funding to 27 businesses and organizations across the region.
We’re proud to play a part in keeping Rainier Valley vibrant, resilient, and community-owned.
