About
Our Mission
We are a self-sustaining, community-controlled financial institution dedicated to promoting community development and economic opportunity through responsible lending to people who have traditionally been unable to access credit. We are committed to mission-driven lending as the foundation of our work.

Our History
Building Community Since 2000
RVCDF Founded
RVCDF got its start in 2000 when the Puget Sound Light Rail was built in Rainier Valley, helping local businesses rebuild and retain customers through mitigation work.
First Lending Programs
We started our lending programs with our first loan: $1.1 million in financing written in support of affordable housing here in Rainier Valley.
RVCDF Becomes Self-Sustaining
In 2014, RVCDF became self-sustaining — a major turning point for every successful CDFI.
Certified CDFI
RVCDF attained its status as a certified CDFI from the US Treasury Department, opening doors to greater access to funds for small businesses, affordable housing, and non-profit initiatives.
Supporting Local
We provided financing to 27 businesses in Rainier Valley and invested over $5.8 million back into our vibrant community.
Looking Ahead
With over $100 million in loans and stellar portfolio management, RVCDF is moving into new Mount Baker offices, expanding technical assistance, and growing mission-aligned lending.
Financial Statements
We’re committed to financial transparency. In compliance with Public Inspection IRC 6104(d), here are our recent audited financials and Form 990.
